Where CLA is built differently
Not a claim that we grade harder or softer than anyone else. These are structural differences in what a slab from each company actually gives you.

See how the grade was reached — not just the number.
CLA is a newer grading company. We don’t ask collectors to substitute age for evidence. Every grade is built around a documented examination process, human adjudication supported by instrumentation, itemised subgrades and a registry-linked digital record. You get the working, not just the verdict.
High-resolution capture of both faces forms the visual record used during assessment.
Centering, corners, edges and surface are recorded separately, with each subgrade scored in 0.1-point increments.
The item’s visual DNA is linked to its certification record to help prove the exact item graded.
What is examined and recorded
Instrumentation supports the grader — it does not replace them
The examination record
Rather than relying on a final label alone, CLA retains the inspection evidence used to reach the grade. That makes the assessment easier to understand, audit and discuss.
Four categories. No mystery.
The final grade is supported by visible component scores, so collectors can see where condition was gained or lost. Each subgrade is recorded in 0.1-point increments for finer condition separation.
Same grading fee. Whatever the card is worth.
Postage, optional products and optional slab upgrades are separate where applicable. Current service pricing is shown on the CLA pricing page.

CLA is newer than long-established grading brands, so resale confidence has to be earned in public. These are actual eBay sold results for CLA-graded or CLA-authenticated items — including transactions by sellers other than CLA. Before you post us your cards
You are handing a stranger something valuable. Here is exactly what you are agreeing to.
Declare the value when you submit — your in-care cover is based on that declaration.
What if a card is lost or damaged in our care?
When you submit, you declare the value of your items and select the available cover tier for that submission. Your item is insured while it is in our care — from the moment we take possession at intake until it is handed back to the carrier. That cover does not extend to transit in either direction, or to handling by any third party, so please insure your own postage both ways. Every card is photographed at 1200 dpi on arrival and every handling stage — intake, grading, label, weld, QC, dispatch — is timestamped against your submission, so the condition and whereabouts of your item is on record throughout. If an item is lost or damaged while in our care, our cover is limited to the lesser of the value you declared at submission or its market value, subject to the cover tier you selected and the applicable terms. Declaring an accurate value matters: it forms part of the record for that submission and is the maximum amount we will consider before applying the market-value test and any selected cover limit.
What if you disagree with the grade?
Every finding is itemised in your report against the points it cost, so a disagreement starts from shared evidence rather than opinion. If you believe a grade is wrong, send us the cert number and the specific finding you dispute within 14 days of delivery. We re-examine the card in hand against the original examination record and give you a written answer either way — including when we conclude the original grade stands.
What if the card can’t be graded?
Some items can’t be graded — trimmed, altered, restored, or where our examination leaves authenticity in doubt. The examination was still carried out either way, so the full grading fee stands, and the item is returned to you in its original state with the examination record showing what we found. Items we cannot authenticate come back marked Unable to Grade — Possible Counterfeit. We never destroy or keep a submitted item. And if it turns out you were sold something that was misrepresented, that examination record is evidence you can put to the seller or your payment provider.
Who are we, legally?
CLA Holdings Aus Pty Ltd, ABN 73 698 632 049, a company registered in Australia. The CLA Registry is operated by that entity, and every ownership transfer is recorded against it. Our registered office is {{street address, suburb, state, postcode}} — the same address your cards are returned from.
Our registry is modelled on vehicle title transfer. When you sell, title moves to the buyer and the previous owner’s claim ends. That is the part no other grading company does.
NEW LOOK·NEW TECH
The Next-Generation CLA Slab Is Officially Here
A complete redesign — with every CLA technology built in.
The new CLA slab pairs an all-new premium housing with the full CLA technology stack: a see-through direct-print label, Ling’rPrint™ visual DNA, and a legally-backed registry record — every slab, every grade, from day one.
The questions people actually ask us
Why would I use CLA instead of PSA?
Three reasons, and none of them is “we grade easier”. Our price is flat no matter what the card is worth, so grading a valuable card doesn’t cost you a percentage of it. You receive the full examination record — 1200 dpi imagery, measured centering, magnified crops and itemised deductions — rather than a number on a label. And the slab comes with a legal ownership record you can transfer to a buyer. A PSA Set Registry entry is a showcase, not title.
Is my card graded by AI?
No. Your card is graded by a human grader. CLA uses specialist digital tools to help that grader examine the card with greater accuracy, consistency and detail. Those tools can assist with measurements and reveal features that are difficult to judge reliably by eye alone, but they do not make the final grading decision. The grader reviews the card in hand, considers the digital evidence alongside the physical examination, records the findings and assigns the final grade. In short: technology assists the examination; a human grader makes and is responsible for the grade. The software never sets a grade and it cannot overrule the grader. The instrumentation is there so you can check the grader’s reasoning, not replace it.
What actually comes with my graded card?
The slab, plus a certificate backed by the full examination record: high-resolution capture of both faces, measured centering ratios, magnified corner and edge examination, the surface-analysis layers used during assessment, four subgrades scored in 0.1-point increments, and every finding itemised against the points it cost. All of it stays attached to the cert and is visible to anyone who looks it up at cert-check.
Are there any hidden fees?
No declared-value tiers, no premium for a valuable card, no fast-track surcharge, and no charge for subgrades or the grading report. The quoted grading rate is what you pay for grading. Postage, optional products and optional slab upgrades are quoted separately where applicable.
Will a CLA grade hold up when I sell?
We are a newer name than PSA and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we can point to is what has actually happened on the open market: a CLA-authenticated sealed Pokémon 151 booster bundle case sold for A$8,599, a CLA 10 Skyridge Charizard box topper for A$5,389.30, and CLA slabs listed by sellers other than us have drawn competitive bidding at auction. Beyond the sales record, a buyer looking at your CLA slab can inspect the full examination record before bidding, confirm through Ling’rPrint™ that the card in the slab is the card that was graded, verify the certificate from their phone, and receive registry title when they pay.
Can I check the population before I submit?
Yes. The CLA Pop Report is public. You can look up how many copies of a given card have been graded and at what grades before deciding whether it is worth submitting.
Do you accept submissions from outside Australia?
Yes. We have registered collectors in 26+ countries. [[CONFIRM: international shipping, return postage and customs handling — be specific about who pays what.]]
I already have PSA, BGS or CGC slabs. Can they go in the registry?
Yes. Legacy slab registration adds an existing graded card from another company to the CLA Registry so it carries an ownership record and cert-fraud checking, without touching the slab. [[CONFIRM: cost and process.]]
